Samsung, If You Are Reading This, Please Add These Features in the S26 Ultra
On February 25, 2026, Samsung will unveil its latest lineup of Galaxy S series – S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. I already read this rumor in October that 2026’s release will be delayed by two months. That seems to be true because it’s the end of January, and there are no signs of the S26.
I guess being late will be a blessing in disguise – someone might read this and include features in the S26 Ultra I adored in the S24 Ultra. I am just hoping!
What are those features? Let me walk you through them in detail.
Remote Control via S Pen
Samsung ended its Note series and introduced the Galaxy S Ultra to replace the Note. It worked well for them because phones were already going bigger every year.
The new Ultra (S21 – S24 Ultra) had all the features of the Note series – a boxy design, bigger display, and most importantly, the S Pen. The S Pen was great, and before the S25 Ultra, it did more than just write on the notepad in the previous devices. It could take group selfies via Air Actions and control media via Bluetooth connection.
Then they removed the Bluetooth feature from the S Pen, and it turned out to be just a Pen. That never made sense to me. S25 Ultra is a phone above $1000, yet its S Pen is stripped of the feature, only because a few people used it, and Samsung saved some space and money, which was outrageous.
At this point, there must be smaller Bluetooth LE chips to fit in the smaller S pen. I wish Samsung could bring it back to the S Pen in the S26 Ultra.
Improved Battery Experience
It’s been a while since Samsung has stuck with a 5,000mAh battery for its Ultra. Even though it was fine a year ago. However, according to the current standards, it just doesn’t cut it for me (at least).
There is a new battery technology – silicon carbon. It used to be Lithium-ion batteries, but Lithium ions held less charge while occupying more space. Let me explain with the help of an example: I had the OnePlus 15 for a couple of days, and I absolutely loved playing multiplayer games on it for two reasons:
One, it is super powerful, and the other is my low-latency Spectrum Internet.
Spectrum is one of the best internet providers in the US because of its inexpensive plans, network stability, and top-notch customer service, which you can reach by dialing the Spectrum customer service number. When this internet service is coupled with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, the gaming experience becomes absolutely great. It gets even better with a whopping 7,300mAh battery in the OnePlus 15.
This was the exact reason why I played for hours on the OnePlus 15 (it never died).
Anyway, what do I expect from Samsung? Well, the new one should have at least 6,000mAh of battery.
There is another thing that I expect from Samsung. It’s been four years since Samsung introduced 45W ultrafast charging. Phone manufacturers, particularly Oppo and Xiaomi, are going well beyond 100W in their flagship phones. The battery charging speed, for sure, needs an upgrade in the S26 Ultra.
Make OneUI More One-Handed
Those who don’t know: OneUI is Samsung’s Android skin on top of Google’s Android. It is arguably the best Android skin out there, especially when you look at the clunky HyperOS of Xiaomi, OxygenOS of OnePlus, and more.
Samsung nailed it in 2018 when they introduced a cleaner OneUI 5, and they haven’t looked back since then. The current iteration is the 8th iteration of OneUI, and it is really good.
There is minimal bloatware, a clean UI, great features, customization, and best of all, the one-handed nature of the OneUI.
This one-handed nature of OneUI is something I adore, especially in the S25 Ultra. I have rather small hands, and that phone is huge.
However, I have seen Samsung shifting focus from this particular feature of OneUI. I say that because I am one of the beta testers for the OneUI 8.5, and I haven’t seen much improvement in that regard. For example, the power options are still at the top of the phone, and it is extremely hard to reach that point. On top of that, only settings have seen the search bar move from top to bottom. The rest of the items are exactly at the same spot as they were in OneUI 8.
Whatever I am writing here, I have given as feedback for the OneUI 8.5 beta.
I hope the developers of the OneUI can see this and improve the interface accordingly.
To wrap up this topic, I should mention another thing that should be changed in the S26 Ultra, and that’s the edges of the phone. I use my phone without a case, and it is not very comfortable to hold. Maybe a tad bit rounded edges on the S26 Ultra would help.
